CRIJ 4377 & CRIJ 6394
Summer I: 3 credit hours
Dates: May 14 - 26, 2012
Explore the Roman roots of our criminal justice system. Specifically, we will look at the early origins of the common law, crimes and punishment, as well as police, courts, and corrections. This is not an exploration of the modern criminal justice system, but rather a modern-day exploration of Rome's history of crime and justice.
Travel will include Rome, the Vatican, Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and a day trip to Venice. Visit places such as the crime museum in Rome, the Coliseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and St. Mark's Square in Venice. Depart from Texas on Monday, May 14th after exam week and return Saturday, May 26th; before Summer I classes begin.
