Dr. Mike Vaughn joined the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology in College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University in May 2006 and serves as Co-Director of the Institute for Legal Studies in Criminal Justice. Dr. Vaughn's research interests are primarily related to legal issues in criminal justice, including legal liabilities of criminal justice personnel, the death penalty, prison law, constitutional law, and criminal procedure. Dr. Vaughn is extensively published in criminal justice journals and law reviews. In 2002, he was named Outstanding Alumnus of Sam Houston State University's College of Criminal Justice, and in 2016, he became a Fellow of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
