Biography:

Bill Gollmitzer is beginning his third year at Sam Houston State University where he teaches online courses for the College of Criminal Justice. Gollmitzer's experience in criminal justice began in the United States Marine Corps where he served eleven years as a military policeman, accident investigator and criminal investigator.

Upon leaving the Marines, Gollmitzer worked seven years as a police officer for the city of Shreveport, Louisiana. In 2002 he switched agencies and joined the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office. Today Gollmitzer works as a classification/ booking supervisor at the Caddo Correctional Center in Shreveport. Gollmitzer was decorated for valor and has received two Officer of the Year awards during his 19 years in Shreveport/Caddo Parish, Louisiana. Along the way he earned an A.S. in law enforcement from Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana, a B.A. in criminal justice administration from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, and a M.S. in criminal justice leadership and management from Sam Houston State University.

Originally from Indiana, Gollmitzer lives in Carthage, Texas with his wife Kathy, a retired English teacher. The couple has three grown children and six grandchildren. Gollmitzer is an active member of Southside Baptist Church in Carthage. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, computers, and writing.
