Rebecca (Becky) Price

I had almost 30 years experience with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) when I retired in November of 2014 as the Deputy Director of The Rehabilitation Programs Division. As the Deputy Director, I was responsible for the oversight of all programs offered to offenders. These programs include services for both female and male offenders and included but were not limited to sex offenders, substance abusers, youthful offenders, mothers and babies and administrative segregation offenders. In addition, we provided all of the chaplaincy services statewide and facilitated the volunteer led programs within the TDCJ. I am a two time graduate of Sam Houston State University. In 1990 I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, then in 2000 I again enrolled in SHSU to complete my Master of Science in Criminal Justice Management in 2002. When I received my Masters Degree, my goal was to eventually use my academic knowledge and my work experience to educate at the college level. As I was nearing retirement, I was very fortunate to meet that goal by teaching online courses at Sam Houston State University during 2013 and upon my retirement in 2014 I now also teach on campus. I truly enjoy blending academic information with work experiences and current events related to Criminal Justice and Criminology to make the classroom a challenging, interactive and educational experience.
