Biography:

William (Layne) Dittmann is a 1st year doctoral student and research assistant at Sam Houston State University's College of Criminal Justice where he earned a B.A. in 2009 and a M.A. in 2011. Between 2007 and 2015, Layne worked as a Texas licensed private investigator for Joe Winter Investigations (Seabrook, TX) and has gained experience in conducting background investigations, surveillance investigations, and undercover operations. For the last 12 years, he has spent his spare time playing guitar, performing, and recording with Houston-based rock band, Elysian. His research interests include privatized corrections, qualitative analysis, sentencing disparity, prisoner reentry, solitary confinement, social network analysis, and media portrayals of criminal justice related topics.
