Biography:

Dr. Butler received his PhD. from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, and his research examines institutional and community corrections. His recent scholarly work has focused on the use and implementation of restrictive housing with several manuscripts being published in Justice Quarterly, Criminal Justice and Behavior, and The Prison Journal. Currently, Dr. Butler is working with fellow SHSU colleagues to examine factors related to correctional officer stress, exhaustion, and burnout.
