Tenure-Track Full or Associate Professor and Assistant or Associate Professor

The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Arizona State University invites applications for (3) tenure-track positions to begin in the Fall of 2012. It is expected that one position will be filled at the rank of Full or Associate Professor, one at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, and one at the rank of Assistant Professor. Required Qualifications include: At the rank of Assistant Professor: PhD in criminal justice, criminology, or related field; evidence of strong record in or promise of scholarly research and publications, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. Experience in funded research is desirable. At the rank of Full or Associate Professor: PhD in criminal justice, criminology, or related field; evidence of strong record of scholarly research and publications, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. Experience in funded research is required. At the rank of Associate Professor or Assistant Professor: PhD in criminal justice, criminology, or related field; evidence of strong record in or scholarly research and publications, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Experience in funded research is desirable. Successful applicants must demonstrate the ability to contribute to the core research strengths of the School in the substantive areas of criminology, criminal justice, violence or program evaluation. The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice has twenty three faculty members and is in a period of dynamic growth, with outstanding support for research. Community Supervision Officer (Adult Probation Officer)

Job Summary
Community Supervision and Corrections Department Taylor, Coleman, and Callahan located in Abilene, Texas. This position calls for protection of the community through supervision of the probated offender and to make available to offenders opportunities for improving their ability to serve their sentence in the community rather than in prison or jail.

Salary: $32,345 Annually

Assistant Professor of Criminology

The University of Saint Mary, a Catholic university in Leavenworth, Kansas, invites applications for the tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Criminology.  USM has experienced significant enrollment growth over the past few years, including the criminology program, which offers a Bachelor of Arts degree. 

Job Summary
Primary responsibilities include teaching, advising, program/curriculum continuing development in criminology, and service to the University.  Candidates should have the ability to teach a wide range of criminology courses and also some basic sociology courses (e.g. introduction to sociology and social problems).  Experience with hiring and supervising adjuncts, as well as with teaching and developing online courses is preferred.  Faculty is expected to participate in university governance through committee work at the university and departmental level.  USM and the Behavioral Sciences Department have close, collegial faculty dedicated to a teaching-learning relationship.

Education, Experience and Skills Required
A Ph.D. in criminology or closely related field is strongly preferred.  ABDs nearing completion of their degree will be considered, but a time limit will be set for completion and appointment to a tenure track may not be offered until the degree is completed. 

Contract
The position will be at the assistant professor level on a tenure track (see limitation noted above) and will be available in June 2011 or at a later date as agreed to by the university and the candidate.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
