requirements.  Two years experience is preferred.  Must pass psychological

Position: Director of Community Supervision and Corrections Department of Walker, Madison Leon and Grimes Counties
Department: Community Supervision and Corrections
Minimum Salary: Annual Salary Commensurate With Experience
Duties: The scope and nature of the duties and functions of the Director of Community Supervision and Corrections Department are broadly defined by Section 76.004 of the Texas Government Code.
Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A bachelor’s degree conferred by an institution of higher education accredited by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board

Additional Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, corrections, counseling, human service development, law, law enforcement, police science, pre-law, public administration, rehabilitative studies, social work, psychology or sociology; OR at least one year of graduate study in one of the prerequisite fields; OR at least one year of experience in full-time casework, counseling or community or group work;
  2. Knowledge of the principles, techniques, procedures and trends of probation casework;
  3. Knowledge of federal and state laws and rules, regulations, procedures and techniques involved in the preparation and disclosure of case records and related documents;
  4. Five years of management experience in probation work;
  5. Knowledge and experience in grant preparation, operation and maintenance;
  6. Ability to speak in public and perform varied public relations activities;
  7. Ability to maintain professional working relationships with other county officials, state, municipal and civic organizations and agencies.
